The performance process...
On the 7th December, Yorkshire based writer Neil Rathmell began his writing residency at Left bank Leeds. He produced a text based on the WAYHF? themes. Sections of the text were performed in the final production and used as a stimulus for the devising process.
Moving workshops online due to COVID, the performers were led through exercises that explored: the role of 'performer' and different approaches to devising by using the themes that run through project WAHYF?
Our first (in COVID) meet up: on the 13th and 20th of February the CVIVArts team met at Meanwood Valley Farm in record breaking weather to keep momentum up during COVID, doing performance research around the WAYHF? project themes of human desire & need, and additionally, control. On the 20th February a group improvisation was delivered through instagram live at 1pm, as well as capturing our work on film. View here:
On the 8th of March, CVIVArts Theatre entered Left Bank, Leeds for two evening workshop sessions exploring physicality & space, and translating the public survey responses into a physical performance. We live streamed this first work-in-progress devising to the public through YouTube for feedback for development.

On July 21st, we streamed live on YouTube a second devising process from Open Source Arts, for public feedback. The actors had previously been facilitated through time-based activities during two sessions, to create action & text from a new writing stimulus abed on resilience & vulnerability.
